Stanford University Vigil for Victims of Christchurch Terror Attack


Hundreds of Stanford University students and community members gathered Friday afternoon to mourn the 49 terror victims killed at two mosques in #Christchurch, New Zealand.

Ramzi Salti Moderates "In Between" Film Discussion at Stanford

Stanford Lecturer + Radio Host Dr. Ramzi Salti moderated a lively film discussion at Stanford on June 13, 2018 following the screening of Maysaloun Hamoud's film "In Between بر بحر לא פה, לא שם"

The film was part of Stanford Global Studies' annual film festival featuring movies from all around the world. This summer's theme was “Friends & Family: Tales From Near and Far.” This screening was sponsored by the Abbasi Program in Islamic Studies.

Below is a video of the film discussion, moderated by Dr. Ramzi Salti, in which members of the audience expressed various points of view that contributed towards a much needed discourse that centers on women, gender roles and marginalized sexualities in the Middle East.

Arabology Interviews Interview Lena Zubaid, Creator of 'Open Your World' Documentary



Arabology recently interviewed Kuwaiti visual artist Lena Zubaid about her photography and her "Open Your World" documentary which is available for viewing at youtu.be/HWOEOSDv-Co.
Lena, a Masters student at San Jose State University, wrote, filmed, edited, directed, and produced this documentary about the experiences of Gulf Arab students in America. The film (available on YouTube) features interviews with six Kuwaitis and four Saudi Arabians who have had to confront certain stereotypes in the United States.
