Wonho Chung's Big Arabic Stand Up Show in NYC (Aug 8)

Wonho Chung - one of the Middle East's best known and beloved comedians - will be performing one night only in NYC on Thursday, August 8, 2013. Wonho will perform in Arabic. This will be the first show ever headlined by a comedian performing in Arabic at a mainstream NYC comedy club. Tickets available via Brown Paper Tickets at

Wonho Chung is a critically acclaimed stand-up comedian, singer, musician, interviewer and media personality. Born to South Korean and Vietnamese parents, Wonho was raised in Jordan speaking Arabic as his mother tongue. His fluency in the language of the region and immersion in its culture from childhood have given this multi-talented entertainer a unique Asian-Arab perspective, enabling him to make a strong connection with audiences in that part of the world.

Wonho's comedy career began in 2007, when Showtime Arabia approached him to join the 'Axis of Evil' comedy tour as the North Korean character they were looking for. Wonho toured with the revue for a month, performing 27 shows in front of 20,000 people in Jordan, Egypt, Kuwait, Lebanon and Dubai. His subsequent first television appearance came in Show Comedy's follow-up mini-series to that tour, titled Three guys and Wonho, which won a golden trophy at the 2008 Promax BDA awards ceremony held in Dubai.

Here are two clips of Wonho's stand up from his TV Special (with English subtitles): and

Wonho Chung's NYC performance will include special guest: Ali Al Sayed - Dubbed "Dubai's King of Comedy" by Ahlan magazine, Ali has appeared on MBC, OSN, Dubai One, BBC and more:

The Muslim Students Awareness Network (MSAN) at Stanford University invites you to the Annual MSAN Comedy Show! The headline this year is comedian Dean Obeidallah, who has been featured on the Axis of Evil Comedy Tour, and has made appearances on NBC's Saturday Night Live, ABC's The View, and CNN.
