Dr. Ramzi Salti recently took part in two special events in Amman, Jordan, where he reflected on his personal, academic, and professional journey and shared stories from more than three decades of teaching, cultural work, and engagement with the Arab world.

The two talks, hosted by the Rotary Club and the Orthodox Club, offered audiences an opportunity to learn more about Dr. Salti’s journey from Lebanon and Jordan to the United States, his academic career at Stanford University, and his ongoing efforts to promote Arabic language, music, literature, and culture.

Rotary Club Talk

At the Rotary Club event, Dr. Ramzi Salti traced his journey from his childhood in Lebanon and Jordan to his university studies in the United States and his later career at Stanford University.

He discussed his work teaching Arabic language and culture, his approach to bringing music, literature, film, and other cultural materials into the classroom, and some of the memorable experiences that have shaped his teaching career.

He also spoke about the creation of Arabology, his long-running radio show on Stanford University’s KZSU 90.1 FM, which highlights contemporary Arabic music and cultural productions while introducing them to a wider international audience.

Through photographs, personal memories, music, and examples from his teaching and cultural activities, Dr. Salti reflected on how his experiences in Lebanon, Jordan, and the United States have influenced his work.

The event also highlighted his years at Stanford, his engagement with students through Arabic cultural events and activities, and the continuing development of Arabology as a platform for presenting the diversity and creativity of the contemporary Arab cultural scene.
