Title: Tribute to Lebanese Music from Fairuz to Mashrou Leila

Description: For years, certain Lebanese indie/alternative musicians have attempted to broach themes of socio-economic injustice, corruption, and politics in their work--a prophetic fact that may have much to inform recent events in Lebanon where the capital has been rocked by one of the most violent tragedies in recent memory. By showcasing some of Beirut's most talented indie/alternative musicians, the aim of this talk is remind us of the role that music can play in helping us heal and rebuild the country.
